1. Christmas Everlasting by Nora Roberts

America’s favorite novelist” Nora Roberts is the bestselling author that wrote this book, Christmas Everlast, a story, or rather, two stories that qualify it in the top Christmas books to read this season.
The first story is titled Local Hero and revolves around a single mother and her neighbor, who she is growing more and more fond of as he begins to support her. All I Want for Christmas, is the second story that follows a music teacher and two six-year-old students that have a single father who does not believe in the slightest of romance.

2. Coming Home by Patricia Dixon

Coming Home by Patricia Dixon is one of those wonderful Christmas books that you won’t be able to stop reading. It is full of wonderful characters, neither of which are perfect, of course. That’s what makes them so relatable.

The story revolves around Carmen, a widow in her late 50s, who is preparing to welcome all of her family for Christmas Eve. Little does she know that her three daughters have their own secrets that they want to share with her.

3. Letters from Father Christmas by J.R.R. Tolkien

I believe J.R.R. Tolkien is not someone that needs to be introduced after his well-deserved legacy of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. But this famed English author is not only known for his take on fantasy books. He also wrote one of the best Christmas books, Letters from Father Christmas.
This book is about holiday letters that the author wrote for his children.

4. A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

One of, if not the best classic Christmas books is written by none other than Charles Dickens. A Christmas Carol was written in 1843 and it follows the story of the bitter old Ebenezer Scrooge who happens to transform his life after living through four ghostly encounters.

The ghosts give him a new look on life. It’s not a long story, but certainly one that deservers to be on any list of top Christmas books.

5. When Christmas Comes by Andrew Klavan

Not all Christmas books start of with the joys of the season. Certainly not When Christmas Comes by the critically acclaimed Andrew Klavan.

The story of this book brings out the conflicting emotions of the festive season with a haunting murder mystery to start with. It revolves around a small idyllic town, called Sweet Haven and the stories of its people.
